Milwaukee 2401-22 12V 12-Volt Li-ion Sub-Compact Driver Kit Reviews

cheap Milwaukee cordless driver kitCheap Milwaukee Cordless Drill

Extremely capable little driver5
Years ago I swore off battery-operated drills. But, once my corded drill died, I decided to give it another shot; battery technology had improved quite a bit. This thing has almost as much torque as my old corded drill (it doesn’t have anywhere near the same max rpm; I would not attempt to stir paint with it). It seems they have engineered this to turn slow and steady, delivering lots of torque without having lots of friction, both conserving battery and giving you a lot of torque to work with (enough to cam out of a size 3 phillips screw if you’re not pushing on it).

While you sacrifice some flexibility with the hex-chuck (especially for drilling large holes), and may need to buy a set of bits that fit the hex chuck, I think the convenience of the well-designed chuck makes up for it (adding and removing bits is easy with one hand).

Lastly, this thing is extremely small, and can get into a lot of places you’d never be able to get a corded drill.

So, if you’d like to have something small and extremely convenient for your light to medium-duty DIY type drilling/driving, this is a really good way to go. If you have heavy duty work too, I’d get a nice corded drill with a Jacob’s chuck (getting a cheapo one with barely more torque is probably a waste of money; if you mainly need the ability to use round drill bits, they sell a hex-to-3/8″ chuck adapter that people seem to like).

Better than the Bosch5
As a door and window contractor I use battery powered tools every day. When I went looking for something smaller and lighter to complement the big tools. I came across the Bosch 10.8 as the perfect solution and picked one up last year. It was nice, but not the great power it claims. The big problem came, though, when it got below freezing here and I found the tool just wouldn’t run, period, until it warmed up again. This was more than just a bit aggravating when you want to get the job done and you’re putting the tool in your coat to warm the poor thing up. I found I had to take the thing back and forth to the house every night so I could use it on the job without delay. I realize this won’t matter to a lot of people in the toasty states, but I thought it might be helpful info for those others that live in cold climates and don’t want to coddle their tools keeping them warm at night.
I did try another Bocsh 10.8 in case this was just a single tool problem, but the exact same thing happened. It won’t function in the cold.
So I picked up the Milwaukee 12V when it came out and have had none of the problems. I like it better and it’s very comforttable in the hand, it has more power than the Bosch, and runs longer. The one hand chuck is great.

Very pleased so far5
I have only had my driver for about a month, but have used it on several jobs. I was extremely pleased with the compact size and have been pleasantly surprised with the power and battery life of this driver. I also own a Milwaukee 18V hammer drill which has performed extremely well for me. This lightweight driver seems to offer the same great quality. I did some comparison shopping before buying from Amazon, and they had by far the best deal on this driver. I would certainly recommend this tool to others.
