This lightweight cutter divides a potato into its french-fry essence in a jiffy. One blade creates up to 49 3/8-inch fries with a single lever-push. The other creates up to 25 half-inch fries. You’ll get those numbers, however, only if you precisely shape a large potato to fit the bed. The bed’s size is the cutter’s only drawback. Even if you cut a large potato to fit the head, the fry length is at most 3-1/2 inches. That length, however, is ideal for carrot, cucumber, and zucchini batons to assemble a vegetable tray around a bagna cauda, an Italian dipping sauce of olive oil, butter, garlic, and anchovies. And such batons get you halfway to a pretty dice for a vegetable soup. Hand wash.

Progressive International Vegetable/French Fry Cutter Reviews
Best thing since french fries![]()
This is an awesome kitchen gadget! We make fries about 1 or 2 x a month and for a family of 7, that’s a lot of fries! Home made fries are so much better than store bought frozen fries.
You’ll really have to try this to believe how well it works. I saw that a few other people felt it was too flimsy, but really it has to give a little or else it would break. Believe me, I’ve churned out a lot of fries and it’s still in perfect working order.
Just buyit, try it, and you’ll LOVE it!
Fast and easy French Fry cutter![]()
The product itself get 5 stars for ease and functionality and 4 stars for a cleaning problem and lack of accessories.
In the package are 2 different sized blade grates and push blocks that are easily assembled and removed from the main body by depressing a small lever and turning a latch, respectively. Cutting capacity is less than 4 inches in length. You’ll have to “cut” large Russets before “cutting!”
Clean-up is mostly easy, if you have a baby bottle nipple brush to poke through the grate holes and cross brush the push blocks (a toothbrush for the latter works also). However, the main body has slots where the push block slides. This area collects and traps small potato fragments and is difficult to clean.
I would like to see different shaped blade grates, just for the heck of it. You never know what strange moods you will be in!? I would enjoy a larger capacity in the main body, but this would cause more strength to cut the potatoes. Right now, there’s a good compromise between capacity and cutting effort.
Don’t forget to double fry your potatoes: about 2-3 minutes at 325F, pat dry, then about 5 minutes or golden brown at 375F.
Excellent, but should be larger![]()
This is an excellent cutter, that comes with several different size blade fittings (for thinner or thicker fries). It sets up very easily, and can be easily disassembled and popped into the dishwasher.
The one complaint I have is that the blade base should be a bit bigger so that large spuds can be passed through without having to cut the spud into smaller bits first.
The lever arm is a bit short, so that my wife has asked me to cut the potatos – since some weight has to be put into operating the lever.
It makes uniformly cut fries, that cook evenly. It makes the joy of fresh cut fries accessible to more people – so please skip the frozen fries and give yourself a real treat!
