I purchased a Sony 46XBR6 from Amazon.com Sony wins hands down on Value,and Quality,over other brands.

The TV that I am replacing is a Sony (18 yrs of service and still works very good). Amazon.com is the best to deal with,not only the best price but they sell quality items.I received my XBR in 5 days, the Free White Glove Delivery via Pilot Freight was the Best Service I ever had,They delivered to my home,ask what room did I want the Sony in.The driver offered to un-pack it. Amazon is most Honest,during shipping there was a price drop, I called customer service and within one minute they adjusted my purchase price,emailed me a credit for the lower price. And they have real live people to talk to.Very Happy with Sony and Amazon.com,”I will be back”

Very satisfied!
I have not stressed this TV too much since I am using a Pioneer AV Receiver which upconverts all video and handles the audio itself. As such it only sees full 1080p signal. So probably some of the satisfaction can be credited to the receiver. I really like the fact that the screen brightens up during the day (at least appears to be significantly brighter and easy to watch even in bright surroundings). On the other hand, I wished it was a little brighter during the night. Yes, I have played with the settings. I also got a good deal on it in the 2-day post-Christmas sale in 2008.

HD is required if you want a great picture, otherwise don’t bother
The picture stinks if you don’t get HD service, so don’t bother buying ANY flat screen unless you are going to tack on the extra, on-going cost of HD. I confirmed the same experience with my sister who just bought a different brand flat screen.

We went with this one after visiting the big box stores and reading all the reviews. The picture is incredible when you get HD. We use a satellite network, and please be aware that in order to get the best HD picture your DVR unit has to be located near the TV (instead of in a different room like ours was.) I don’t like looking at the DVR unit, so we bought a new media center that has shutter doors so there is air flow, and we had already invested in the special remote where the frequency goes through walls/doors.

The only 2 things nit-picky things I don’t like are this:
– the SONY lights up when you turn it on. It really drove us crazy at first, but I got over it after a couple of days and don’t “see” it anymore. The only good thing about it is that you know the TV is on when you click on the remote (the TV doesn’t make any click “on” noise like our previous one did.)

– I really didn’t like the silver speaker bar at the bottom and it almost prevented me from buying the TV. But it was the perfect size and great picture so I put up with it. I think it’s insane to pay $100 they are charging to get a black overlay strip. Way to go SONY.

Our TV was delivered by FED EX. I had no idea when the TV was due to arrive, so I was out of the house when they came the first time. I called FED EX to see what time they were expected to return the next day. The customer service rep couldn’t give me any time range. So I was forced to stay home the next day until it came (because you have to sign for it.) Luckily they came mid-morning. The young kid put it on my door step and reluctantly asked if I wanted him to bring it in. Being the 5′1″ woman that I am, you would think that would be a no-brainer. No white glove service for me, he just left it in the box inside. If you purchase this and want someone to set it up for you, you will have to do some research with Amazon.

My 5 stars is for the TV picture, best price, and it got delivered in a timely manner without any damage (it’s well packaged by the way.)
